Master the fundamentals of topology and hard surface modeling in Blender3D with this beginner-friendly course, designed for young creators aged 10 and up. Over 10 interactive lessons, students will learn how to structure clean geometry, ensuring proper edge flow, smooth surfaces, and well-defined mechanical shapes.

Students will explore:

  • Grid-based topology and the importance of quads.
  • LoopTools add-on for automatic edge and surface refinements.
  • Edge loops, support loops, and controlling mesh flow.
  • Hard surface modeling techniques while maintaining clean topology.
  • Using Bevel, Subdivision, and Boolean modifiers properly.

By the end of the course, students will have created precise mechanical-style objects and gained a solid understanding of topology, setting the foundation for more advanced 3D modeling.

This course has 10 lessons. Classes run from 13.10 to 14.10 every Saturday
This course is ready for 10+ years old. Girls and boys are very welcome!

Step 1: Understanding Topology & Using LoopTools

Topics:

What is topology, and why does it matter?

Understanding quads vs. triangles vs. n-gons.

Using LoopTools add-on for smooth topology (Bridge, Relax, Circle).

Creating clean edge loops and controlling vertex flow.

Step 2: Edge Loops & Hard Surface Techniques

Topics:

Edge loops for proper mesh flow.

Adding support edges for controlled subdivision.

Using Bevel Modifier correctly to create smooth and sharp edges.

Working with Booleans carefully to avoid messy geometry.

Step 3: Final Hard Surface Project & Refinement

Topics:

Applying Subdivision Modifier properly for high-quality hard surfaces.

How to maintain smooth topology when adding details.

Finalizing models for clean geometry and optimized performance.

There are some requirements exist for the course:

  1. You must be confident in using a computer, keyboard and mouse. At the good user level.
  2. Know how to manage files and folders on a computer.
  3. Be able to switch between windows and use keyboard shortcuts.
  4. Have basic experience in 3D modeling (Blender3D or other software).
  5. Ideally, students should have completed our previous course: 3D Modelling. Level 4.
