"Robotics with Robium Car. Block-based Coding. Level 3" introduces students aged 8 and above to the exciting world of remote-controlled robotics using WiFi. This 10-lesson course builds on previous skills by teaching students how to program the Robium Car to receive commands from a web-based remote control interface and execute movements accordingly.

The course begins with an introduction to wireless communication in robotics, explaining how data is sent from a web interface to the Robium Car. Pupils will then learn to program the car’s onboard system to interpret these remote commands and perform actions such as moving forward, backward, turning, and adjusting speed.

By the end of the course, students will have successfully developed a fully functional remote-controlled robot, gaining valuable experience in network communication, event-driven programming, and real-time robotic control.

When you get this course, you can buy the Robium Car!

This course is ready for 8-year-old pupils and older. Girls and boys are very welcome!

This course has 10 lessons. Classes run from 10.40 to 11.40 every Saturday

Step 1: Introduction to WiFi-Controlled Robotics

Topics:

  • Basics of wireless communication in robotics.
  • How the Robium Car receives commands over WiFi.
  • Understanding the provided web interface for remote control.

Exercise/Project:

  • Connect the Robium Car to the provided web interface.
  • Test sending and receiving basic commands.

Step 2: Programming the Car to Interpret Remote Commands

Topics:

  • Understanding command signals from the web interface.
  • Writing a program to process movement commands.
  • Implementing basic motion control (forward, backward, left, right).

Exercise/Project:

  • Program the Robium Car to respond to directional commands.
  • Test and refine movement accuracy.

Step 3: Enhancing Control with Speed and Advanced Movements

Topics:

  • Implementing speed adjustments based on remote input.
  • Adding smooth acceleration and braking.
  • Debugging and optimizing command processing.

Exercise/Project:

  • Expand the program to handle speed control commands.
  • Ensure smooth and precise movements through debugging.

Step 4: Final Challenge – Remote Navigation!

Topics:

  • Integrating all functionalities into a complete remote control system.
  • Testing the Robium Car in real-time navigation.
  • Exploring potential improvements for future projects.

Exercise/Project:

  • Navigate an obstacle course using the remote control interface.
  • Optimize the program for faster and more accurate control.

This course is Level 1, but there are still some requirements:

1. You must be confident in using a computer, keyboard and mouse. At the good user level.

2. Know how we save files on a computer, what a file and folders are, etc.

3. You want to program robots and are not afraid to struggle with the difficulties of learning it.

4. Previous experience with robotics vehicle is good to have. The experience could be with various cars or robotics kits, that could use the block-based coding or text-based coding. Ideally, if you done our course: Robotics. Block-based coding. Level 1 and 2.
